Having nail troubles? Most of us do. It is not easy to grow
and maintain healthy and gorgeous nails. This is because nails are made
up of dead cells. If they were alive they could repair themselves instead of
making us do all the work. With a little care at home we can make our nails
stronger and healthier.
Don't bite or pick your nails. The first step to having beautiful, healthy nails, is to be certain you keep your nails out of your of mouth. It not only makes your fingers and nails look ugly but also lead to bacterial and fungal infection.
All those women out there who spend hours doing their dishes
and household work, get yourself a pair of rubber gloves. This will protect
your fingers and nails from dirt and harsh cleaners. For extra softness you
could use a hand cream before putting on your gloves.
File
your nails correctly. To
keep your nails at their strongest, avoid filing in a back-and-forth motion —
only go in one direction. And never file just after you’ve gotten out of a
shower or bath — wet nails break more easily.
Trim your nails evenly. You should cut your finger nails by following the
natural curve of your fingers. Rounded tips look better on most people rather
than square, softening the hand for a more delicate look. Its important to trim
the nails before filing them. Don’t keep
your nails too long. otherwise they will chip off.
Don’t pull off hangnails. This often tears the healthy tissue around the nail bed
and can cause infection.
Keep your nails dry. Excessive moisture can cause your nails to grow brittle
and split.
Avoid
polish removers with acetone or formaldehyde. They’re dry up the nails.
Last but not the least,
have a healthy diet rich in vitamin B. A poor diet can cause the nail to be
brittle and break easily.
