RAS MALAI


Probably my favorite dessert, Ras Malai is an indian dessert with dumplings, made from milk powder soaked in sweetened, milk delicately flavored with cardamom.





Ingredients:

For dough:
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. oil
  • 1 tsp. baking powder

For Syrup:

  • 1 litre milk
  • 6 tbs. sugar ( you could use a low calorie sweetner instead)
  • 1 green cardamom
  • 1 tbs. chopped pistachio
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla essence

Instructions:

1.Mix together the ingredients for  dough and make small oval balls.
2.Boil milk in a thick- bottomed pan. When the milk starts to boil, add the prepared balls. Also add  the cardamom seeds.
3.When the balls begin to swell, reduce the flame and cook for 10 minutes. Just two minutes before removing the heat, add the vanilla essence and sugar (or sweetner).
4.Garnish with pistachio and serve chilled.
